8KDVD is HDDVD Revived’s offline 8K physical format: VP9 (+ Opus) on a UDF 2.60 disc with HTML/JS menus, multi-resolution (8K / 4K / HD / 3D), and launchers for Windows and Chromium browsers. This entry is the documentation hub.
What you need
Video File Maker – encode tiers (HQ Plus / HQ / Standard / LP), SDR + HDR10.
Export a master SOURCE.mp4 (and optional anaglyph Source3D.mp4 for .3D4) from your NLE.
Run Video File Maker batch for your profile (Standard is the 100-minute / 50GB benchmark; HQ Plus for shorter premium 8K).
Build menus in Menu Maker so users can switch 8K/4K/3D.
Assemble the disc folder; generate ISO or burn with ImgBurn UDF 2.60.
Test in Windows Player, Chromium Universal Web Launcher, and Kodi plugin.

The 8KDVD Video File Maker V1.0.1 HDR (GitHub Manual-8KDVD-Video-Encoder) is the encode heart of the current standard: batch scripts for SDR and HDR10 VP9 outputs across HQ Plus / HQ / Standard / LP profiles.
Guide: encode an 8KDVD video tier
Download the V1.0.1 HDR release from GitHub; extract where you have hundreds of GB free.
Export SOURCE.mp4 from your editor at full 8K when possible (7680×4320). Keep HDR10 metadata if the project is HDR.
Optional: prepare anaglyph 4K Source3D.mp4 for the .3D4 variant (PowerDirector 16 depth 256, or Premiere anaglyph/ASC CDL methods linked from the authoring guide).
Run the batch matching your profile:
HQ Plus – short premium 8K (guide cites ~70 mins @ ~22GB for the 8K tier).
HQ – high-bitrate 8K/4K mastering.
Standard – ~100-minute movie on 50GB-class media.
LP – long play packed onto 25GB.
Confirm VP9 Profile 2 / Opus (or the script’s documented audio) as required by the Body of Standards.
When finished, pass outputs to Menu Maker and assemble the disc.
HDR notes
HDR batches preserve HDR10 / wide gamut when the source carries metadata – verify on an HDR OLED/QLED. SDR batches are for SDR masters only; do not expect magic tone-mapping from SDR scripts.
Not VCD / DVD / HD DVD
This tool only produces 8KDVD bitstreams. Use TMPGEnc/VCDEasy/DVDStyler/Scenarist for those formats.

The 8KDVD Kodi Plugin (plugin.video.8kdvd on Archive) plays 8KDVD content inside Kodi with menus, resolution selection, and chapters.
Guide: install and play
Download the ZIP from the Archive item.
In Kodi: Add-ons → Install from zip file → select the plugin ZIP (enable unknown sources if needed).
Open the 8KDVD add-on; browse to your disc drive or copied 8KDVD folder.
Choose 8K / 4K / HD / 3D. Use chapter entries when authored.
Performance tip from the sister-site demo: Nvidia 30-series class GPU in full 8K used roughly 300 MB RAM, 2 CPU threads, ~10 GB VRAM – size your HTPC accordingly.

8KDVD Maker (SourceForge eightkdvdmaker) is the original automated Windows wizard. Marked deprecated on the sister site in favour of Video File Maker + Menu Maker, but still useful for one-box demos.
Guide: create an 8KDVD with the legacy wizard
Download the beta from SourceForge; extract. Keep the app and huge video files on the same fast internal drive (SSD preferred).
Run 8KDVD_Maker.exe.
Title: enter the film name. Browse to your 8K source (H.264 / H.265 / VP9 recommended).
Optional 3D: add a 4K anaglyph Source3D (PowerDirector 16 is the recommended depth tool; depth ~256).
Background: pick a menu still ≥ 3500 px wide. Click Create 8K.
Credits wizard: year, studio, director, producer, budget (with currency symbol), project URL (https, not social-only), optional X/Facebook/YouTube/TMDb/IMDb URLs. Press Enter after each field.
Wait for encode. Expect long runtimes (period tests cited ~50 minutes wall time per minute of video). Task Manager should show CPU/RAM use even if the UI looks frozen.
Subtitles: enter language codes and SRT files; blank Enter when done.
Chapters: name chapter entries for hardware menus (web players may still use fixed ~10-minute marks). Blank Enter to finish.
Save the ISO. Wrapping can take ~3 minutes per minute of video.

Do not start a new author yet – Maker keeps DISC_TEMP until the next run.
Open ImgBurn → Write files/folders to disc (or Create image file from files/folders).
Source = DISC_TEMP inside the Maker directory.
Options: File System UDF, revision 2.60; recurse; include system files.
Labels: set UDF volume label.
Advanced → Restrictions: enable HD DVD / BD “Don’t Disable Unicode Support”; leave non-compliant dates allowed.
When asked about one folder, add the contents of DISC_TEMP.
Burn BD-R/BD-XL (recommended) or write a new .iso. Verify.

Extended tips: performance, 3D, and when to abandon the wizard
The legacy Maker is I/O heavy. Park sources and the working directory on the same NVMe/SSD; external USB drives turn “50 minutes per minute” into overnight jobs. If Windows Defender scans every intermediate file, exclude the Maker folder during a run. The UI freeze is normal – watch disk and CPU in Task Manager before killing the process.
3D (.3D4) quality depends entirely on the anaglyph you feed it. PowerDirector 16’s depth at ~256 is the documented sweet spot; newer PowerDirector versions are weaker at anaglyph. Fill the 4K frame (crop letterbox) before conversion so the 3D tier is not tiny inside black bars. Provide both 8K SDR/HDR tiers and the 3D tier if you advertise them in Menu Maker.
When to stop using Maker: if ISOs repeatedly mount empty even after ImgBurn UDF 2.60 rebuilds, or if you need HDR10 batch control and profile presets, switch to Video File Maker + Menu Maker. Keep Maker for workshops and quick demos; keep DISC_TEMP until you are sure the burn verified.
